Day of Action

United Way Day of Action is an opportunity for volunteers, donors and advocates who seek to change lives and communities to be part of the solutions that make a real difference in people’s lives.

United Way of Northwest Illinois has been celebrating Day of Action in our local community for many years and in 2018 it will be held on June 14. Individuals and businesses have the opportunity to advance the common good by volunteering in our local community for various projects. We invite you to get involved! Past projects have included:

  • Cleaning up the playground and laying new mulch at the King Community Campus. The campus is the location of Amity Daycare, the Boys & Girls Club of Stephenson County, and Head Start.
  • Helping to clean up and repair the Liberty House with the Freeport Police Department.
  • Holding a book drive to fill the Little Free Libraries that were built and distributed.
  • Assisting VOICES with sorting and organizing donations for their clients.
  • Building Literacy Kits for the United Way's Education Initiative.
  • Labeling and sealing books to be sent to students during the summer to help prevent the "Summer Slide"
To find out how you can get involved with this year's Day of Action email Lyndsey Wert at lwert@uwni.org for details.
