Give From Your IRA
A Qualified Charitable Distribution, often called a QCD, may allow eligible donors to support United Way of Northwest Illinois directly from an IRA while satisfying all or part of a required minimum distribution.
What Is a Qualified Charitable Distribution?
A QCD is generally a distribution sent directly by the trustee or custodian of an eligible IRA to a qualified charitable organization. To qualify, the IRA owner must be at least age 70½ when the distribution is made.
Can a QCD Count Toward My RMD?
Yes. A qualifying distribution can count toward all or part of your required minimum distribution for the year. Most IRA owners currently begin RMDs at age 73, although individual circumstances can differ.
