Greetings from United Way of Northwest Illinois!
Another year is passed and we are making final plans for our kick-offs in Stephenson and Jo Daviess Counties.
On Saturday morning, August 6th, we will again partner with the Lincoln-Douglas 5K Run crew to hold our kick-off in Stephenson County. Our agencies and United Way volunteers offer food, water and time to help manage the run route. And the 5K Committee takes care of the rest.
At 8 am the kids races will begin, followed by the 1 mile walk, and then the 5K run. The final event, before awards are presented, is the Fastest Kid in Town run, with the winners of the kids races, competing for the trophy. It's a great, fun event! Please come join us.
Our new Campaign Chair, Pat Leitzen-Fye will kick-off the festivities, announcing our goal for the upcoming campaign. Last year, in this challenging economy, we raised $567,000! I call that no less than AMAZING! Thank you to the caring, generous people of Stephenson and Jo Daviess Counties for the support of those in need.
We are also making plans for a kick-off in Jo Daviess County at the Arts and Recreation Center on August 18th. More information to follow.
So, after these events, our campaign will be in full swing. Each year we look for new and better ways to reach everyone in our communities of Stephenson and Jo Daviess counties and offer them the opportunity to give.
